Salivating,

I am stricken dumb with love

for this orange that explodes with life,

Offers it's gems without expecting anything

in return.

Beneath its stippled, leathery skin

Lies a delicate labrinth of fruit

encased in woven thread.

Veins, actually -

As if the fruit carries G-d's pulse.

Don't be fooled

by sugar-cynics,

For if a piece of heaven falls from a tree,

Dance with it.

The juice and joy it brings

Are divine connection

with the Creator Himself.

Maybe that's what they really mean

by "sugar high".
